Sanso On Snow will be launching soon. Formally known as Wada Sanso, the new Aussie owners are currently renovating the 9-room ski lodge and planning to open soon. All the rooms have new western style beds, either single or king size. Futons are available upon request. The lodge has an Aussie style bar, large dining room and comfortable couches for lazing around on after a hard day on the slopes.

Sanso On Snow is ideally located at the base of the beautiful Togakushi Ski Resort. It is only a short walk to one of the seven chairlifts, restaurants and bars. The snow quality at Togakushi Ski Resort is reported to be some of the best due to the 1549-1750 meter high elevation of the resort and the topology of the different mountains. The average snow fall is 7.6 meters per season. You will have access to arguably some of the best 58 hectares of powder and piste skiing across 550 metres of vertical terrain. There are 25 km of slopes available with the longest run being 3,000 metres. The trail statistics are evenly spread across the different ability levels; 30% beginner, 40% intermediate, 30% advanced.
The cost of lift tickets range from;
• Adult 1 day ticket: 5,000 Yen
• Child 1 day ticket: 3,000 Yen
• Senior 1 day ticket: 4,500 Yen
• 2 day and 3 day tickets are also available for a lesser price
• Half day and per lift ride tickets are available

Whilst many other Nagano ski resorts are highly trafficked, Togakushi can be a peaceful paradise. The base area offers simple amenities for skiers and snowboarders including equipment rentals, a small convenience shop and a couple of eateries. There are child care facilities for infants 18 months and over and a ski school.
Togakushi is also famous for the amazing soba noodles with restaurants in easy walking distance. For those interested in sightseeing Togakushi Village is the birthplace of ninjutsu. There is also the famous Togakushi Shrine (as well as other shrines) close by, which is rich in Japanese culture and history. The famous Snow Monkeys are also worth a visit and are approximately an hour away, accessible by public transport for those without a car.
